Xenon low beams to High?

Just got back from the Dealership where they were suppose to have fixed my low beams from being to high. Was getting run off the road by motorists because of my headlights being to bright I guess. Dealer apparently didn't fix them because last nite I had the same problem again. It Does look like they are set awful high. Any way of solving this problem myself?

There should be two adjustment screws on the back of the headlight assembly. One is vertical and one is horizontal.

Is your auto adjustment working properly? That might be your real problem.

on the 05's, the inboard adjust (closer to the centerline) tweaks the vertical.
CCW to raise.

look over at the tech section of www.danielsternlighting.com for a howto
on properly setting the low beam heights.

i've had mine 'adjusted' by my dealership and they came back still pointing
30' in front of my car. i suspect that they didn't properly ballast the vehicle
to reflect a 1/2 tank of gas and a driver.

anyway, i've read reports that others tweaked their vertical by ~ 1/4 turn
and it was enough. i had to tweak mine a full two (2) turns to bring them
up to the proper level. i've confirmed w/ other drivers both approaching and
following that my lights are non-glaring.

The Xenon lights should go thru an auto-leveling precedure every time that they are turned on. You should see the low beams tip down, hesitate there for a second, and then raise themselves to the correct level. If this is not happening you have a warranty issue and they should fix it right away.

The Daniel Stern site is a great resource for all things concerned with automotive lighting. After reading his site I was able to adjust my headlights for much better night visibility without getting flicked off by on coming traffic.

are you modified

Is you suspension stock ?
do yo have aftermarker controll arms ?

There is a leveler on the drivers side upper rear control arm.
I made a bracket that was adjustable to fit on the arm wnen I installed the control arms.
It tok a couple of hit and miss adjustments... then I found the link hon how to adjust.
At the 25' mark Iadjusted my bracket to aim the lights correctly.
Now it is perfect.

Stock suspension. I think I wanta try just lowering the horizontal positioning on them to see if that works.

Mine seem to be too high, I think I got it after I lowered the car on coilovers, and it's pretty damn low so I'm guessing it's the problem, anyone else had this?

The headlights auto-level, they don't autoaim. They only level relative to the position they are aimed to.

That's what I thought. So I'll have to re-aim them? How do I do that? The screws that were talked about above?

How do I know I aim them correctly? Any tips?

see my posting above. the danielstern website in the tech section
has explicit instructions and procedures for proper aiming.

note: on the mini, it's much easier to have someone in the passenger
seat while doing the tweaking. you'll have to open and close the hood
to get at the adjusters and the hood release is near the passenger seat.
