Has anyone found a fix for the Cooper S ingesting small rocks through the hood scoop and damaging the grill on the intercooler? Maybe some kind of mesh grill for the inside of the hood scoop?

Some kind of screen protecting the opening is a good idea.
I've wondered about the possibility of sucking objects into the
intercooler. Definitely not a good thing.

My intercooler grill is already dinged and I found a small rock imbedded in one side of it last night. A friend with a Subaru WRX also
has the same problem. It seems that some aftermarket product should be available - if anyone hears of anything, please let me know.

There is a company that makes screens for the grilles and scoops on the MCS. I'll post the link if I can find it again.

Now where did I put that???

If you want to stop rocks from screwing up your IC just go to home depot, buy some standard household screen, cut it to size. Remove plasic intercooler top, insert screen and screw tight. That should solve the problem, many of my WRX friends have some sort of chicken wire cage to keep bugs and rocks out. I just pick em out with a toothpick.

Just normal driving. But here in Central PA, during winter snow, the DOT spreads salt and gravel as a "traction aid?!". The gravel gets everywhere.

Like PA, Seattle roads are full of gravel, mainly from a mass of dump trucks ruining the roads. Normal driving sucks in the rocks like you wouldn't believe. Thanks for the help!
