Anyone replace their MINI horns with this one?
Anyone replace their MINI horns with this one?
Curious to know if anyone has installed one of these (Stebel Nautilus) on a MINI... And if so, kindly share what the fitment entailed...

Thanks much!

Tere's there site... http://www.stebel.it/stebel/index.htm . They have an audio clip of it in there.
I've never heard it in-person, but on the motorcycle forums, those guys love this thing! There's been some discussion here on it, but I'm not sure if anyone has actually installed one, and what it entailed... Thanks.

We don't yell, we throw beer and sausage at you!
I have seen the 'blazer' horns, I think even walmart has them - they did not impress me up close. I have also never heard a sound clip. Listening to all the differnet clips of the site above, I would never buy one without hearing it - they are all very different and I only like a couple. I would not assume the blazers sound the same.
They are also on eBay quite a bit...
I'm thinking of putting it just behind the lower front grill, off to the side. This way it will be facing forward, with very minimal obstruction of the sound.
Since we have dual horns on the MINI, we could use two of these, which is essentially 4 horns! This increases the db output to 144, from 139, so I was reading... Apparently an increase in 4 db is like doulbling the audio output?!
This horn draws 18 amps. What about stock? I'm guessing that we might not be able to use the stock wiring, unless it's pretty thick, like 12 gauge... Curious on the install...

Hey, thanks for the scoop!
Just did some research to learn more, and found this:
On this scale, the normal range of human hearing extends from about 0 dB to about 140 dB. 0 dB is the threshold of hearing in healthy, undamaged human ears; 0 dB is not an absence of sound, and it is possible for people with exceptionally good hearing to hear sounds at −10 dB. A 3 dB increase in the level of continuous noise doubles the sound power, however experimentation has determined that the frequency response of the human ear results in a perceived doubling of loudness with every 10 dB increase; a 5 dB increase is a readily noticeable change, while a 3 dB increase is barely noticeable to most people.
Got it here:

Anyone know the stock db rating? It's certainly not whimpy...

Just a word to the wise. They strongly suggest to mount in a downward direction as to keep water out. Up here in the northwest it's a good idea. I have one just have not mounted yet.

Thanks Minirox for the info. I was initially thinking of having it face a tad downard so water would not be inclined to go inside. But then I read somewhere that water should not be a concern. The sound bouncing off the road might be louder anyways
really? cause there is a FIAMM emblem on the compressor...
perhaps they make the compressor?
