Anyone replace their MINI horns with this one?
A better picture
This is behind the drivers side inner fender liner. I also extended the air intake with clear hose up under the bonnet.
You can see the air intake nipple that I GOOPED (glued) in place pointing to the rear.

Norm, I like it!!!
I might do the same thing... I'll eventually remove my A/C, so it will go in the lower grille area, but I'll probably do that after this upcoming Summer...
Did you fab that bracket?
Again, nice job! Thanks for sharing.

I made two brackets one for the relay and one for the horn.
I used cardboard to make a template for the horn bracket for fitment first. Then Mig welded the bracket together with metal salvaged from a Compaq server rack install, the extra parts that normally get thrown away. Or shall I say my way, hehe.
The horn attachment to the bracket was problematic with the original mounting design. I changed it by using a piece of channel attached to the bracket and drilling a hole through the channel and mounting block on the horn. A 5/16 grade #5 bolt now secures the horn in place.
The horn bracket was painted with cold galvanizing paint then with black. It is secured to the forward frame extension bolts that had just enough threads to add the bracket with nyloc nuts.
The horn is actually vertically mounted the pictures were taken while the MINI was still on jack stands.
Even though the horn blast is directed at the inner fender liner it is still quite a bit louder than the two OEM horns I retained and drowns them out.

Stebel Nautilus mounted in Rside cowl airbox...
Howdy all!
I love the Stebel
I have it hooked up together with the factory horns for a unique sound.
I ::really:: did not want to take the bumper off my car, so I improvised.
I mounted my Stebel in the passenger-side airbox right under the cowl vent. I used a single 10mm screw with two lockwashers on either side of a hole drilled into the front side of the airbox [ see attachements.]
I hid the relay switch in a waterproof box velcro'd to the back wall of the same compartment. The relay itself was included with the horn and pulls +12v from the under-hood battery post [ run the wire through the tunnel between the L&R airboxes]. I ran the ground wire to a ground-tap plate added onto the frame near the supercharger plumbing. I was able to tap the existing horn line in the right front corner through the existing access hole above the fog lights. I dressed the wires along the existing cable bundle that snakes along the right side inner engine bay and through the existing grommet at the bottom of the rt side airbox.
The horn openings do face upwards, and I was somewhat concerned about water damage, so I carefully blocked off the innermost 3" of my cowl vent from underneath with black hose tape. Totally invisible and [so far] dry too!
Note that the horn is not _directly_ under the cowl vent.
Total cost: ~49.99, total time ~2 hours [ i work slow & careful
]
Those who might wish to, can hear it at the Dragon.
see you there ...

guys, just a question, i purchased a stebel nautilus and changed the stock horns. just wondering how do i add an additional relay to it? i know that the stock horns have a relay already, but my electrical current is fluctuating using only the stock relay. how do i add the relay that came with the horn? the existing horn wires are now connected to the new horn. how would i ground the additional relay and which wire will i use? and do i need to ground another fuse? or will a change the stock 15a to the recommended 20a? need help.. thanks.
