Radiator hose size?
Could someone provide the radiator hose ID size.
Does any one know the radiator hose size for the MCS?
I just measured the OD of the Breather Tube coupling that fits into the top radiator hose. The ID size of the top radiator hose = 32mm
Hope that helps.. norm

Norm..
I'll be tapping my water temp sensor tomorrow, so I'll be cutting my radiator hose.... I'll measure it myself, and will let you know what I find.. I'm thinking 1 1/16"..... 1 3/8" seems to be a bit big..

Norm,
where did you get this measurement from? I guess it would depend on where you are cutting the radiator hose... So from my measurement, it's either a 1 inch ID or 1 and 1/16" ID.... I had a 1 3/16" brass pipe that I was trying to force between my hoses, but no luck.. It just wouldn't fit...

betet, on closer inspecton I see the hose has a formed bell where the Breather Tube coupling fits in the hose. With your ruler what size is the ID of the hose in that section?
I may be wrong here, but I think from the manufacturer the hose ends were made to be wider than the real ID of the hose to make sure it fits the breather hose (which is thicker than the hose's ID)...
When I was looking for my pipe to tap in the middle, the breather hose is what I also measured using the circumference to try and get the diameter.. But as I found out the hard way, my measurements didn't agree w/ the hose and my brass pipe... I'm going w/ a smaller 1 inch pipe...
I'll try to measure it at home tonight, to see if I can do a "guesstimate" with the ruler..

I'll be looking forward to your measurment results. May have to move on to plan B. That is, to get a copper plumbing T and solder a bushing into it to fit my sensor (1/8 27 NPT) into.
I can also solder a lug on the body of that for the sensor ground wire connection.
I should proof read these posts more often

Hi Norm:
If you are going with plan B, here's a link given by MINI146 that can be used.. Make sure it does fit your sensor.. Anyways, look at the attached pictures for the measurements.. I think you would want whatever coupler you would be using to be about 1 inch...
I am using this coupler I had when I was running a TEC 3 unit in my Miata... I'm not sure if it came w/ my TEC 3 or someone just gave it to me..

Here is the part I made to insert into the radiator hose as betet did.
Thanks to betet for leading the way and providing measurements.
I wish there was a place on this forum to store this stuff for the next member looking to do this Mod to their MINI.

My Bentley doesn't tell me the size? I wonder if it's the same size as all other hoses out there?
