Replacing drivers seat under warranty?

Does anyone know if the dealers will replace a worn drivers seat under warranty?

Mine developed a bad split in the leatherette material on the lower left bottom of the seat. It has not completely split as of yet, but it is getting there. They are heated seats.

Anyone had to or know if MINI replaces seats under warranty?

Take it in and see. I would be more inclined to say that a seat cover is a "wear item" and not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty (just like break pads). But I'm sure it depends on how nice your dealer is etc.

I'm having it done right now...

My leather has developed a crack (where white is actually showing) and my car is less than a year old. I asked the dealer if they could fix it and they said they could, but it would be easier and better to just replace it under warranty, so that's what's happening.

If it is a defect in materials or workmanship, I don't see they won't cover your seat under warranty. Take it in.... That's what the warranty is for!

yes the dealer should replace this. i know i've seen a couple worn seats come through here as warranty(the mini dealership i work at). i would make a point of being nice to your service advisor though. as i would think in a case like this it could go either way.

My leather on the driver's seat was flaking. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the leather, not the seat, under warranty. I think the cost on the invoice was nearly $900 .

I guess i said that wrong. the leather should be replaced by the dealer not the whole seat. the sections come apart fairly easily, but as said above they are pretty expensive. check your steering wheel for flaking too, cause that can be covered under warrenty aswell.

This should definitely be covered by warranty. The leatherette should be all but indestructible. You got a bad piece. Good luck.

My front passenger seat stitching was coming loose, so the dealer replaced the whole back seat cover under warranty.

It never hurts to ask if its covered under warranty. The realoem.com site http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...01&hg=52&fg=10 shows a price of $189 for the lower sport seat cover (not sure how accurate it is, but it's probably in the ballpark) plus the labor or do it yourself (not sure how hard it would be).

Offtopic here... but I find this realoem site comforting sometimes as anything in your car can replaced albiet for a price if you do something careless, something breaks or wears out off warranty.
