hard to open door from inside

Out of the blue, passenger very tough to open from inside. Need to really pull and hold latch hard. Kids can't open it. Car only weeks old with <1000 miles. Loose cable? Any easy fix without driving 2 hrs RT to dealer?

Sorry, but there is no, as far as I know, easy fix for this. I've had mine repaired numerous times! In fact, I've had the handle/speaker cover replaced a few times!

Just had a servicing at Brian Harris MINI on Friday, and was told it was out of alignment. They fixed it for me! Well, let's say that "so far, so good!" I'm praying that the fix is in!

BTW, when it wasn't working properly, I found that by unlocking using the toggle made it possible for the passenger to open their door.

I just noticed today that my driver's side door appeared to be out of alignment with the rest of the body of the car. It was jutting out about a quarter of an inch from the body line. Upon further inspection, I saw that the door catch - that metal loop screwed onto the body into which the door latches - was loose and out of alignment! This is a 2 month old car, too! I got out my torx screwdriver and tightened that catch up and realigned the door. It seems OK now.

I wonder if the difficulty that you are having on your passenger side is not the latch handle but the door catch? Worth a look, perhaps....

I know MINIclo’s door handle problem having been a passenger in Wanda many times the past two years. The problem is definitely the handle or mechanism inside the door and not the catch for the door.

got to be the cable

looks like i'll be wasting 1/2 day at dealer already, after 600 miles
hope it holds and no more trips to dealer until 10K service
this is what i was most afraid of when purchase made
have infinity that has never been back to dealer in 2.5 years
i'l keep my fingers crossed

thanks clover

If you're expecting Infinity quality of your Mini, you need to reset your expectations.
