Another P2096 issue
Another P2096 issue
I’ve done a lot of research on this issue and I know it’s a constant topic of discussion but I’d like to see if anyone has any input. I have a 2005 R53 S. I bought it with a blown clutch and leaking from every hole in the engine. I installed a stage 2 clutch and rebuilt the engine with a bunch of help from Mod Mini. The car runs great now however I am getting the aforementioned P2096 bank 1 sensor 2 running lean code. It is the only code I’m getting.
I have smoked the intake and the exhaust. Intake is sealed and not leaking. The exhaust has a small leak at the muffler at the back of the car. I have cleaned the injectors. It has a new fuel filter. There is a hard code stored, however, I can delete the non hard set and start the car and the CEL does not come on. As I watch the graph on my scanner for the post cat O2, it holds at around 0.7-0.8v. Under mild throttle it maintains however, if I throttle up quickly and let off abruptly, the voltage drops to under 0.1v which in turn causes the CEL light to come back on the next time I turn the car back on. It generally takes the sensor a couple seconds to work itself back up to the correct range after. Any input as to what I may be missing is greatly appreciated.

I had an eBay header, and blew a weld in the flex pipe during a 7k shift getting on the highway, I too got this code. Replaced header, both 02 sensors, and had to reset adaptions via inpa to get the code to go away. Haven’t seen it since. If you are sure there are no leaks in exhaust pre 2nd 02, might be time to replace that O2 and reset adaptations.
If I may ask; Another dumb question:
Are the Pre & Post CAT 02 sensors the same? (stock R53 manifold/header & exhaust)...
I currently have one new that I plan on installing for the Pre-Cat soon but I figure (since I'm at it), buy a second 02 for the Post.
PLUS: I have no knowledge or experience resetting adaptations after installing 02's. But I think I saw a menu on my Foxwell that references "re-set adaptations"(? - not sure though)
Thanks.

Periodically getting the P2096 error on 2006 MCS with 280K miles. Code is clearable and typically occurs either during the morning commute or afternoon commute, after engine has warmed up (after about 15 minutes or so). Smoke tested from the exhaust and have a leak at the muffler seam (not surprising since it's the original). I wouldn't think this is the cause of the error since it's so far down stream, but is it possible? Haven't smoke tested from the engine yet but plan to.
