I picked up a matching hatch for my car, mine is junk. There's a different kind of gray box that came in the new one. Mine was black and located in a different part of the hatch.
Ill take some pics today. It looks like the antenna, and maybe the defrost go through the box.
I'm wondering if I can re wire the defrost part to work with my existing harness?
The part is called an antenna amplifier. I’m thinking maybe it runs the defrost too? There’s a couple of strips that connect to it, that go to the window defrosting strips. Can anyone confirm this?
Heres a pic. I'm guessing that they changed this for the facelift cars or something.
On my car, the black box is what I need to use.
The problem is those two little wires from gray box go to the window defrost stip. On the original hatch they go to the black box via a plug. I'm not sure if I can make this work.
So apparently this box uses the rear defroster as an antenna signal. My SEL is on and I'm guessing its for this thing not getting a signal. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram but I'm not good at reading that. I need to know what signals the red plug needs, there are 3 wires that all go to the strips on the window.
Confirmed that my defrost strips still work, so maybe the last plug with the 3 wires is all for signal? Kinda want to snip that 3 wire plug off and merge it into those 2 prongs that go to the window, but i don't want to wreck anything....its that or i pay a glass shop to swap windows i guess.
