Electrical Demons in the hatch/lighting

Today I leaned on the rear hatch and it made a clicking sound like the trunk was open. I tried it and it was not. After getting into the car and starting it the "dummy" light was on saying the hatch was open. It was and would not close. I drove the car anyway and after a couple of miles I hit some uneven pavement and heard the hatch make some clicking sounds. Pulled the car over and the hatch closed.
Now this is where it gets even more strange...
I turned on the headlights as it was getting dark...and the hatch clicked and released! I turned the lights off and the hatch clicked again.
Ever hear of this "electrical demon"???

I would look for chafed wires at the accordian shaped tube at the top of the hatch. Your Registration plate lights and hatch button wires go through the same place.
