Door and Window Issues

I recently picked up my first Mini, a 03 Mini Cooper S and I'm experiencing some problems almost immediately. One surfaced after purchasing (driver side window issue) the other issues were present before.

Problems:
- Driver side window does not roll down/up using driver window toggle switch
- Central Locking Switch neither locks nor unlocks anything. There is a small click sound when pressed, but nothing happens.
- Hatch always locks and must be unlocked with manual pull release below the rear seat. After pulling the release about 1 of 3 tries will get the button on the hatch to release so it opens.
- Nothing responds to the key, but the key is missing the bottom button so only the lock button can be pushed.
- Locks do not engage when driving.

Notes
- Sunroof works
- Passenger side window does roll down/up using passenger window toggle switch
- Front Fog light toggle works (no rear fog lights installed)
- DSC toggle works
- I've checked the fuses for both windows, lock, and a few others. All were fine.
- Driver door only unlocks manually using the key.
- The Gas cap lock is broke so I don't know if the lock is engaging or not. It does sound like it clicks back there when I manually unlock the door.

Is there anything that could be causing all of these problems or is it likely that all of these items (driver side window regulator, and 3 actuators) have failed?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Windows and door locks not working are a common problem on Gen 1 Minis. You need new window actuators and door locks. The "How-To" section at the top of this page will show you how.

Do please make sure that your battery is happy and healthy. Low voltage can raise hell.

Cheers,

Charlie

Didn't think to check that. I'll check out the voltage in the morning in hopes that it will be one part instead of 4.

I had similar issues with mine after 13 or 14 years. Had to replace the driver's side regulator (not too bad) and one of the power lock modules. That one isn't such fun... some very tight spaces can lead to expletives. RealOEM.com will make your life a lot easier in terms of finding part numbers for your car based on the VIN.

From: Under the car. As per normal.
Is there anything that could be causing all of these problems
Yes. It's a BMW product.

+1. First thing to check on each and every electrical involved issue on these cars. 12.6V key off and removed, ~14.2V or so idling.

Also ground connections, water intrusion from blocked sunroof and door drains, hatch trim and third tail light leaks etc. and my personal favorite, crappy wiring insulation.

You didn't buy a Toyota.
