Inoperative window - need help

2004 MCS, 75K. Yesterday the passenger window failed to go down when I toggled it, but the auto-dip feature when opening and closing the door still works. When I toggle up I think that I can hear a faint click inside the door panel, but when I toggle down I don't. What is the most likely explanation? How do I further diagnose the problem? TIA. If it might be a factor, I do have the MCAW installed.

I'm no mechanic but does the window go down when you hold the key button down for 5 seconds? Months ago on a hot day my toggle would not work. I got out of the car and tried the remote on the key and held it down to the position where the windows and sunroof open. I don't know why, but sure enough, the stuck window opened and I haven't had the problem since.

Although I will try, I doubt it will make any difference since I do not have those 'comfort opening' features programmed.

Kudos to TRICO; his suggestion makes the window work, which rules out any problem inside the door (i.e., the motor or the regulator). However, it still won't go down with the toggle, which suggests to me that the toggle itself is bad. Or could the MCAW be the problem? Any suggestions? I guess the only way to further refine the diagnosis at this point is to remove the MCAW and see if that cures the problem.

If the motor was bad, you would hear a click when you press it down. If the toggle works up but not down, then probably the switch. Hopefully it's just the switch!

I have the same (reoccuring) problem. Someone suggested I punch right above the speaker on the door 'like it owes me money' -- with the car off, then turn the key 3/4 and try again. Sounds weird but its worked 3 times for me and the window goes down!

Problem solved. The MCAW plug to the toggle bank had come partially loose. Pushed it back in, and all is now well with the world.
