Windows acting up
Windows acting up
07 Mini cooper with only 11000 km, when I lock the car, both windows go all the way down, car unlock itself and won't respond to key fob after that.
I even tried the key to lock the door manually, but car returns to unlock. rolled windows up using the inside switch but as soon as I get out the car and close the door windows roll back down again.
Took the car to dealer, they are blaming the tint and cold weather and they say the repair is not coverd by warranty, pure B.S.
Thank you BMW(MINI) Canada for selling cars here that are not suited for colder climate and not taking any responsibility for your product.
Any remedy for this? Please help.

I have read elsewhere that the window dippers act up because of software issues. Maybe that's related?
I think there was no software fix yet, but rolling your windows up and down once every startup sets something(?)
Sorry I'll try to find the orig info.

Try this and report back to us.
1. Get in car
2. Start car
3. Roll window all the way down
4. Press and hold Window Switch to UP position and hold it for 15 seconds after the window has gone up all the way.
5. release switch
6. wait 15 -20 seconds
7. Press and hold window switch to DOWN position and hold for 15 seconds after the window has gone all the way down.
The do the same for the passenger side window.
Then shut the car off. Then restart the car let is run for 60 seconds
then shut the car off and close and lock the doors.
Hopefully this will solve your problem. Will not guarantee that it does but it has worked on some other window open/close issues.

I did the window reset after reading all the related posts here. It seems that, has solved the issue for now. It's been two days and so far, so good. I have an appointment to take here in tomorrow, we are suppose to get snow mixed with rain for the next few days and I just can't trust the car anymore.
Here is what I did to reset the windows for future reference:
1- Start the car with all doors closed.
2- push and hold both window toggle switches in down position until you hear clicking, wait until clicking stops. let go of the toggles
3-Push and hold switches in up position until you hear clicking, let go of the toggles as soon as the clicking stops.
4- shut the engine off, get out of the car and lock your doors with the key fob.
That procedure did the trick for me. How long is going to last or what cuased it to begin with is anybody's guess.

Ok.. sorry to take so long to get back.
The problem was the drivers side lock module - it had some error.
Apparently it controls the windows and the sunroof.. so it was replaced..
Since then, no problems.
Btw- MINI Markham also took care of melted hood scoop in one shot! Excellent!
