Bad first start if day, intermittently

Bad first start if the day, I have read about it. Mine, when it does it, I don't hear the fuel pump prime. Sat for a week and started fine, but last night I forgot to lock doors and it did not want to start, so it took a while to get going.

What I read is that the car primes the fuel pump when you unlock the door. If I stand beside it with key in my hand I can sometimes hear it.

My 01 beetle has switches in the door handle to tell security whether car is locked or not, is there a sensor in the handle or lock mechanism to tell security the door has been unlocked?

I'm trying to figure out if the prime signal comes on from remote unlock to BCM then straight to the relay, or if the door locked switch is in there somewhere.

Mini uses a CANbus system, so when the "Unlock" request is made, the BCM sends out other commands, one of which is to unlock the doors, and another is to prime the fuel system

I see, I wasn't sure how it was all connected. If itt was similar to my vw I could see how it would be related.

Did anyone find a fix for the intermittent hard start? I hope it's not one of those dealer only software issues
