I actually have teflon chunks (slabs) in my intercooler. Also I blew a yard blower through the J pipe/supercharger and slabs came off. (And interestingly, the scroll gears and pulley moved with the air from the blower) I can see the coating missing from the scroll gears. I blew backwards through the intercooler and it seemed to clean up.
same questions: am I now on borrowed time with this supercharger, replace it ASAP (which I wont do since this is a low-budget R53 rebuild) or it will last a while longer maybe just not as efficiently. There is no noticeable noise coming from it

If I were in your situation of low-budget build, I'd just clean up the mess and possibly try to remove all the coating I could, then just run with it until I could find an 05-08 junkyard M45.

GREAT find! Thank you! I like your idea of cleaning them up tough that would require taking them out and 1) I don't know if what I couldn't get off would flake later anyway and 2) I'd likely disturb the gaskets/seals which I don;t want to buy..
I'm inclined to put a mesh screen on the intake side of the Intercooler to keep the flakes out of the intercooler and check the screen periodically.
