Supercharger Teflon chunks
Supercharger Teflon chunks
So I removed my intercooler today on my 05 S. Upon inspection I found rubbery chunks on the inlet side of the intercooler. My assumption is it’s the Teflon coating from inside the supercharger. My question is, am I now on borrowed time with this supercharger, replace it ASAP or it will last a while longer maybe just not as efficiently. There is no noticeable noise coming from it. It has 100,500 miles on it so I know it’s in the window they start to go bad.
Definitely a rubbery feel, so I guess it’s not the Teflon. I had some work done a while back, now I’m wondering if it was a careless mechanic not paying attention where he puts stuff.
Nothing should have rtv upstream of that. I Had some other issues with the mechanic when i picked the car up which leads me to believe he was careless. Its a very reputable nearby shop i will be avoiding now.
R53 Chargepipes and the gasket at the supercharger are notorious for leaks and issues related to vacuum leaks.
It wouldn't surprise me if someone at some point used RTV to solve a vacuum leak issue.
Before my TVS I used it on the gasket at every install.

Yep, thats I would guess, ^^
