R56 fuel pump relay identification.

Greetings all. Longtime lurker learning a lot.
I’ll be brief and on point. Car: 2012 Mini Cooper S hatchback. 101k. HPFP already replaced. JBE replaced once due to faulty LPFP relay. Cost $1,200. Relay failed again. I want to wire out for a replaceable one. Not as insane as it sounds. I have board out. Based upon pic, which is the correct relay for the fuel pump?

Qualified Progress.

Found relay for fuel pump. Loose, overheated solder joint was the cause. No continuity, hence no current.

Faulty solder joint.

The culprit opened up.

Visibly discolored coil mount with faulty overheated solder joint.

The two circuit boards opened. Far simpler can I conceived originally.
Replaced fuel filter 1,200 miles ago. Is fuse too high capacity? Associated relay coil discolored from heat. Points working but burned. Boards must be split to access solder joints. Clipped ‘em. I’ll reattach them later. Ordered several relays. Nec ep2f-b3glst is the one. I’ll wire it so it’s accessible and easily replaced next time. Grandpa said there’s no progress without dissatisfaction. We’ll see if I screw it up when the relay arrives....

I had a similar issue to what is described here. Car died a few times intermittently over the course of a month or two, then broke down completely. Was tough to diagnose when it was intermittent and the dealer even replaced the HPFP thinking that was the problem. Once it died completed it was pretty easy for the dealer to diagnose it as a bad relay for the LPFP. Dealer wanted $1300 for a new board and programming. Conveniently though, I have a neighbor who does micro soldering and was able to confirm the problem and replace it. The relay was functional, but one of the solder joints was bad and causing the issue. If anyone else needs his services, I highly recommend it vs buying a new board and getting it programmed. His website is https://coopertronics.net

OP: Sounds like the LP fuel pump is drawing too much current. Did the pump draw ever get checked?

Yes. Mine threw:
002BE9 : pressure too low in high-pressure system
002C01: High-pressure fuel, plausibility: pressure too low

What's truly depressing is that I fixed the wiper motor relay on-

-wait for it-

my 1995 318ti
the same way.

When BMW makes a mistake,
they stick with it for decades.
