Fuel Gauge possibly stuck at 3/4?
Fuel Gauge possibly stuck at 3/4?
I'm confused by what my fuel gauge has started showing me. It appears the digital level is stuck at about 3/4. Also, the red tick mark at the bottom of the gauge initially displays on start and is then replaced by a yellow tick mark.
I might be being paranoid now that I can see all sorts of new instrument readings in INPA... When I read the fuel quantity in INPA it also seems to be stuck at 41 / 128, which is a different value than I'm seeing on the dash.
When I check the fuel range in mileage on the steering wheel, it seems to be decreasing logically. It was showing 222 miles and dropped logically for every mile I drove.
Thoughts? I realize this has been addressed many times before but I'm in a bit of a time crunch to search the forums.

Well, I did some further research on the forums and am still curious about the red light on the fuel gauge? Maybe that has always gone away...?
I used the odometer reset button test the fuel gauge as listed in the procedure below. Test 6.2 shows a 1 for both senders OK with a value around 400. I proceeded to reset the instrument cluster anyway, by selecting 21 as other forum members had suggested. My distance to empty actually went up by like 30 miles, when I started the car the fuel gauge was still in the same spot. Perhaps there's no problem...
Thoughts? I'm preparing to sell the car and want to make sure these problems don't plaque the buyer.

Over reaction as I sold the car! Fuel gauge was working fine! No idea why INPA was showing a strange fuel reading but I'm sure its something lost in the German to English translation I try to make!
Also, from the owner's manual, the red light on the fuel gauge only illuminates when the fuel tank is getting low. Otherwise it should be amber, as it was.
Sold the car, on to an Australian couple that will hopefully enjoy it! Now we upgrade and possibly get a Countryman!
