Fuel gauge not working correctly after fuel pump change

So, I had a fuel pump go out on me a couple of weeks ago, the replacement pump was fine, then it died on me the other day. After the car got towed to the shop and they re-replaced the pump with a dealer part, they discovered that it was out of gas. The gas gauge said it had 1/4 tank. They put gas in, and the gauge isn't reading correctly still.

Any suggestions on what this could be?

Isn't the sending unit part of the pump?

The sending unit arm hangs on the outer shell of the pump/filter assembly. They may well have dislodged or bent it when they installed the new pump. (See REALOEM parts diagram). Take it back and tell them to fix it.

Mine did the same thing and I was told the fuel filter sending unit was bad along with the pump sending unit. The fuel filter is on the right side of the tank. I had to replace both of the parts it took a couple hours. After the replacement the tank was showing 1/4 of fuel. This was my Saturday project I haven't run a full tank of fuel yet. The up side the car runs better at idle and under normal acceleration.

I have the same issue after installing a new original fuel pump.
I've double checked that the arm isn't bent and is working just fine, but the fuel gauge is not working at all.

What could it be? I guess the fuel gauge itself doesn't have its own fuse?
