2011 R56 non s cooling fan inop

I have a 2011 non s R56. I had a leaking water pump that was leaking from the weep hole. I changed the water pump, friction wheel, tube to the thermostat and thermostat. Everything was fine for there months and then the problems began. The temp sensor in the thermostat failed. I replaced the sensor. The fan would not operate unless I unplugged the sensor while it was running or turned on the ac. Replaced the relay and fused. Fan still would not come on properly. One morning I went out and it was -5° and started the vehicle. The fan immediately came on. The vehicle would not hear up and fuel mileage was terrible. The thermostat stuck open. I replaced the thermostat. Now the fan only works when cooling temp sensor is unplugged or ac is on. System has been bled about 80 times. Tonight I went into the hidden bent and compared my gauges to the computer. I found out my craven speed temp gauge is off 25°, but when I ran the temp up to 110°C in the hidden menu the fan did not turn on until I turned the AC on. I have plenty of heat in the interior to the point I have to roll the window 1/4 down. Fuel economy is the same during this winter as last winter before the cooling system renew. Hidden menu 7 proves the temp sensor is working. What am I missing? Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you.

The fan has a stage 1 and stage 2 settings. Perhaps this is the classic fan resistor failure! can you test if those two stages work? we know at least one is.

So the two wire fans have two speeds? Even with one relay?

I did that yesterday. The fan did not kick in and I went to 118.

the only thing i can think of is the resistor.

has it always been like that, or you just noticed it after the thermo replacement?

After the first thermostat replacement it stopped. On my third thermostat and did three sensors also. Vacuum filled coolant. I'm to the point of throwing a fan at it. If it is not that, just leaves dme.

before you go fan up, replace the resistor.

I could be wrong though about this fan. all my minis now are S model. the '13 base was sold a year a go. so, before you buy anything, do more digging please.

Not on the fan shroud, just the plug end and wires to the fan.

the other thing i can think of then is the thermostat itself. do they not have two settings. Im thinking like on GM cars, they have a thermostat that opens let's say at 110C and another thermostat opens at 120C, could this be one of these kinds...I'm just thinking aloud!
