AC Cooling Fan Inop

I just noticed that our 05 Cooper vert's engine cooling fan does not come on even when AC is on. I also noticed that the AC is not as cold.

Is there a way to test the fan or resistor before I replace the fan assembly?

Did you see if the fan is jammed / rusted and not moving. make sure it spins freely first by hand, car off and fan grille off. What you can do is disconnected it and run a 12v jumper wire to it and see if it kicks on.

The first thing to do is check the fuses. Then if you find one blown look for the cause. A stuck P/S fan is the first place to look.

It is likly you have a blown fuse....
The fan will "fast cyle" if the resistor is burnt out....meaning it will turn to high speed as the pressure switch in the ac activates it...then quickly turn off....same with engine heat...it will turn on to hi...then turn off when it should turn on the low as it cools a bit...but it will warm up again...and the fan will turn on Hi again for a few moments.
Check the ps fani can fuse....ON EARLY 2005 CARS, it can cause a stoppage of the radiator fuse when it gets stuck and the fuse then blows. Later 2005 cars were wired, and many rewired to prevent this.
