No start after brake flush/maint light reset

After flushing my brake fluid, I hopped in the car to start it up and move it back into the garage. After starting it up, it gave me a low fluid indicator. I shut it off and filled the reservoir back up to the max line. I
started it back up and moved it back into the garage which was only a car length back in. I shut it off for a few minutes to put away tools and such. I then hopped back in and tried to reset the maintenance interval light.

After a couple of failed attempts, the ABS, DSC and brake light came on as well as the airbag light. I pulled out the key and tried to start it up, but it would not turn over. I hooked up my cheapo code reader and it showed a P0503 "Vehicle Speed Sensor intermittent/erratic/high".

I haven't had the chance to pull the wheels back off to check the speed sensors yet, but plan to check them in the morning. I don't think I yanked on any wires, but you never know.

What is really puzzling is the airbag light. Doing a search on the forum, there were some suggestions of a battery going out. This is the original battery from the build date of 11/09. It has seemed to crank more slowly recently, but always starts and runs with no issues. I am going to pick up a replacement battery for it in the morning.

If replacing the battery or fixing a loose speed sensor doesn't fix the issue and let me start it again, what else could be the problem?

Well, it was the battery that was toast. I pulled the battery and took it to the local auto chain store and had it tested. It was originally rated for 440 CCA, but tested out at 26. Yikes! It is a wonder that I was able to get the car started with the battery only putting out 26 CCA. It was in the back of my mind that the battery was nearing the end of its life.

I was starting to really sweat after reading through several threads on the "Three lights of ABS death", but none of the circumstances in those threads were anywhere related to what I had experienced. So, if anyone trips across this thread and is having the ABS lights and other weird electrical issues, checking the battery may be a good place to start.

Happy new year to all!
