Valve cover in vaccuum

Hi, this weekend I start my mini and notice a vaccuum leek that cam from my valve cover. So I try to remove my oil cap to ear if the vaccuum was really cooming from my valve cover and to my suprise, the oil cap was hard to remove because there was alot of vaccuum in the valve cover. This is the first time I really ses vaccuum there. Does the r56 engine work that way? I have a catch can and it was empty when I do the test. How many pcv port are there on those engine ??? I know there is 2 on the valve cover , is there anyone that let fresh air goes in the that can be plug???
