P0697 code after valve cover eplacment
Ok so long story short I repelaced my valve cover and inadvertently broke off the gound wire. I attached a spade terminal to the ground wire, reset the codes it was throwing (P00012). Now when I try to start it throws a P0697. My code reader still reads the codes so I assuming the ECM is still okay but I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. Is it possible the splicing I did on the ground could cause the code to be thrown? If so, does anyone know what guage ring terminal connector I need to properly fix this?
Which ground wire? Yes your repair job could cause a problem. Did you check the repair for continuity?
P0697 is a open reference voltage (CAN 5 VDC) signal to a sensor. Check the connections for the two cam position sensors on the right side of the valve cover.

It was the coil ground to the valve cover. I'll get a tester and check it tomorrow to make sure the repair is good. I checked the one cam sesnor connection that I had to disconnect to change the cover. Right now I'm just getting cranking but no start.
Did you fix it?
