'05 R53: Please help identify Engine Noise

Can anyone help me identify this strange noise coming from the belt area?

In this the noise stops at 00:07 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CDy...ature=youtu.be

Here's another one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDzd...ature=youtu.be

Thank you!

My hearing has "heard" much better days. Suggest you use a car doctor's stethoscope that is a piece of tubing or hose that you can get closer to specific areas to determine where the sound is coming from. With your car you have the belt tensioner, several idler pulleys, crank pulley/harmonic balancer, and the alternator.

It’s nearly impossible to diagnose engine noises via video. That said, the on/off nature of the sound would probably make me check the AC compressor first. Test it by turning the climate system completely off.....sound stop? Turn ac on......does sound begin when the compressor kicks on?
