Any easy way to split the engine case?

Motor is out and everything is off. Having been using a dead blow hammer to separate the case, have a very small gap at the crank pulley side. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you mean these? I was wondering what they were. How do you get them off? Doesn't look like there is a gap so that you can insinuate a tool to pry it off.

Now I know why they are capped, because they leak oil. What do you use to put the cases back together, black rtv or something special? None of this is covered in the Bentley manual and this is the first engine I've ever had apart.

Yes black rtv silicone is fine. Use new caps.

Last question, are the M8 outer case bolts and the M16 inner case bolts torque to yield or can I reuse them? I know the bolts holding the con rods cap bolts are one time use as are the head bolts.

The outer ones can be reused. The inner ones are one time use. I think they were $2 a bolt back when i did the work.
