So I have the airbag light emitted on the tach on the steering wheel and the seatbelt light on the speedometer. It randomly came on driving normal so I had the dealership scan what it was. and they told me it’s because a bulb is out in the head unit in the ceiling. And the only way to fix it is to replace the whole thing for $720. The head unit as in the place with the switches for the sunroof and what not. They told me the airbags will still deploy if in an accident. Is any of this true or is the dealership trying to pull a fast on on me? Trying to sell the car locally and someone is interested but may shy away due to the airbag light for inspection/emissions stuff.
Or any ways of clearing it?

 

This is a totally un-informed opinion (too lazy at the moment to get off the couch, go to the garage, and get the Bentley manual) but the analysis from the dealer sounds like bull puckey to me.

What codes did the dealer read? Do you have any lights out in the upper switch panel?
