PCV Hose or Crankcase Breather Hose
PCV Hose or Crankcase Breather Hose
Just bought my daughter a 2010 R56 Base. Although I was a mechanic back in England 40 years 1975-1977 (injured), sadly I have to ask this question. Where the hell does this hose go? The car was stalling, and so I went online. Armed with enough information, I started pulling on things as you do. I found the hose which attaches to the rocker cover was broken about 3" down, but someone had put electrical tape on and that had now come off. I got some hose tape and temporarily connected the two ends. YA fixed; no more stalling. LUCKY BREAK (I'm thinking that little story might help others)
So the question is WHERE does it go? After 6" it fades off into the abyss. It goes under the manifold and then gone. The ultimate question is; what do I have to take off to change it?
Thank you, John

On the mcs, you can reach under and disconnect it fairly easily. I imagine it would be similar on the justa. Pelican parts has a lot of how-to's on their site for more details, ECS tuning has most parts if you're shopping around for a replacement. Oh and welcome to NAM!

So I don't have an RRS I just have a justa.... justa being a Range Rover Hse (mine not my daughters)
Sounds like it's item 1 in this diagram?

And if it is, there's the answer to your question.

Yes, that's the one. I just couldn't see the lower end when I was underneath. I am wondering do I have to remove things above, it to get access to replace the hose.

That is the pcv hose that goes to the intake manifold underneath the airbox.
I have managed to replace it without taking off the airbox and intake manifold. You can snake it down through there. Just make sure you have patience as you will not get it the first time. Be careful too as those are not rubber but brittle plastic and will break fairly easy. I bought a new one for 30 dollars or so but someone had a better idea and cut the ends off of it and replaced the brittle plastic hose part with a more durable rubber hose. There is a youtube somewhere that gives the diameter of the hose needed.

it connects at/near the throttle body, but from the drivers side... the hose is shaped like an 'S'
*You will either need to:
A. remove the lower tube to the airbox (coming from your drivers headlight->airbox)..then reach you arm under the airbox and feel for the stupid plastic sleeved connection, just like the one at the head. It is a PITA.
B. jack up the car.. from the bottom, you can see it plain as day (need a flashlight)..its easy to get at and you can pull the entire hose out through the bottom once its disconnected.
Next - you need some materials:
*razer knife
*2x brass NTP->1/2" nipple
*2x 3" straight section of 3/4" (or 5/8") heatercore hose or other rubber type, so long as its oil resistant
*4x 3/4" hose clamps
*3' of 1/2" heatercore hose or other rubber type, so long as its oil resistant
*2x 1/2" hose clamps
Using the OEM hose and your knife.. carefully cut the hose off of the end connectors. Slip your 3/4" hose over the nipples of the salvages connectors & hose clamp. Insert the brass NTP end into the 3/4" hose and clamp.. then fab up your 1/2" hose to connect the 2x end. Once youre done.. reinstall. You will never have to worry about that stupid hose again.

Can someone verify how to do this on an N12?
