Once again trying to save myself some money has royally backfired !
My clutch slave cylinder recently crapped out on my so I undertook what should have been the simple task of replacing it. I got everything apart and was in the process of bleeding the system. The hydraulic line was leaking at the slave cylinder so I took it apart again to re-seat the seal. At some point in this process the stupid little seal on the end of the line fell off and rolled into another dimension. Now I am left with the option to either buy a new line for $50+ or try to rig something else up.
Does anyone have an opinion on the chances of me finding a generic o-ring that will fit in the cylinder and give a good seal? I really dont want to buy a new line. Aside from the wait for it to arrive and the fact that it costs more then the cylinder it looks as though it will be a pain in the *** to swap out.
If anyone has ever had this issue and has a tip on a easy fix or work around I would really appreciate you sharing.
I wish I had junkyard that were open past 6 so I could make it to one after work but alas, I do not and I want to get my car back on the road so I can stop driving my ancient comanche.
Way motor works has used lines on their site for around 35 after shipping so I might go with one of those if they have them in stock.
Im just going to stuck in my old truck, which is missing more parts then it has, for another couple days. I just pray that this actually fixes my dead peddle problem.
I realize this is an old thread, but I think I may have found a solution. The O-ring is not really your typical O-ring. It's more like a rubber pintle cap. It would appear that this is a generic part used by many Euro cars as a slave/master line seal. I think even some modern Jeeps use a similar quick disconnect style connection point for hydraulic clutch lines. Anyway I ordered a set of these from ECS tuning to try and fix my seeping slave line connection. I'll be sure an offer up my experience when they arrive in the mail.
Yes, it most certainly was a success. That VW #1K0798741 part is spot on. There are two of the little top-hat shaped seals in the package and 2 small o-rings. You only need 1 of the little top-hat seals. The rest is spares for whatever....
