Gear selector stuck, won't go into Park
I have a 2007 Cooper-S Hatchback, automatic. The silver button/latch on the shift lever is stuck and won't depress, so I can only shift between D and N, it won't go into park. Any ideas how I can fix it? I can't even see how you can remove the lever...
Thanks for any help!!!

Yes! I finally got a chance to work on it yesterday -- I've been out of town. I confess I was a bit skeptical that just tugging on it would work. But I tried it -- put it in drive, started pulling up with a lot of force while gently twisting it. And suddenly POP it came out! The original problem I was having was that the spring, on the button you push that lets you move the shifter, had stopped working so the button would just move without auto-returning. Which was fine until I was fiddling with it and it got stuck in the out position and wouldn't depress anymore, so I couldn't shift into park or reverse!
After I popped the **** out, the button started moving again so I was able to move it to the depressed position, replace the **** back onto the shaft, and now it works like before. Whew. I went ahead and ordered a replacement, though, because I don't want it to get stuck like that when someone else is driving the car.
So yes, it does just pull out and push back in. You don't even need to remove the cloth boot/cover, the **** is above and not attached to the cloth part.
Thanks @MiniToBe for your help!
