Grinding Reverse
Grinding Reverse
I know there have been a bit similar threads on this but it was different circumstances than mine. Whenever I try to shift into reverse my gear grinds unless I really push it hard into reverse. Is this a common thing with MC's or should I have this looked at?
I find the same thing with my 03 MC.What I do is go to 2nd gear, than back to reverse,if that still makes it hard,I release the clutch,go again, always is smooth then. Most times,it's not an issue.I like my tranny

I have an 03 MCS and when shifting into reverse I never get grinding.
Make sure that you clutch pedal is depressed fully before you shift. Push the shift **** fully left first then down into reverse in a two step process slowly and deliberately.
I get grinding only in 2nd to third when shifting too quickly. If I slow down and pause in neutral just a tad , shifts are much better.

In my 04 MC I too get the grind now and then. It seems as though, if the car is rolling at all, it will grind. I also now have a habit of wobbling the shifter back and forth a couple of times before I go for reverse. This means I am holding the clutch in for just a bit longer, but it seems to work. Also, if I count to ten using only even numbers...it never grinds.
When I first got my MC I would sometimes grind it, thinking I was in reverse. For some reason, sometimes it didn't want to shift all the way. When I got used to the car, I could tell when it was in gear or not. If moving the stick a little to either side doesn't work, I also found that I could just go in reverse slowly as if it was in gear while still moving the stick back at the same time. The stick would kind of ease into reverse without grinding. Sometimes, when I'm not careful it does grind. Also, I don't have a clue if this technique is bad for the car.
Yes my shifts into reverve are always over than back,in 2 steps. But sometimes the Midlands does not want to go,I don't push it and get a grind,I go to second fast, back to reverse, works 99% of the time,if not release the clutch, engage clutch, back up
Can't seem to figure out what leads to the problem. But only ever happens when I start the car and need to back up, never while I stop and back up

MC's though, that's a different story.
