Code 293A Coolant Temp Sensor

Quick Question-Ive got a Code 293A "Coolant Temp Sensor, plausibility, cold start. Temperature too high. After hunting around on the web, I'm thinking/hoping it just the Coolant Temp Sensor that needs to be replaced.

Ive had the recall (linked below) for the updated Temperature Sensor. My question is... Is it the same temperature sensor, just located in a different place? Do I need to be searching for a different part?

I pulled some temps using my scan tool. The car has been sitting in the garage for 2 days, ambient air temp about 70 degrees. I anticipated seeing the Coolant Temp much too high or even maxed out, but it appears to only be a bit off, and right in line with the oil temp (perhaps these key off the same sensor?)

Is my coolant temp sensor bad? Ive got one on order, but of course, dont want to pull it out if its not the problem.

I guess the only thing you can do is get the sensor out. just before that, make sure that your wiring or plugs are all tight. it happened to me one and i ended up replacing the whole thing...i had an extra one from other minis i worked on. everything after that was fine.

just for later reference, since I had a retrofit done to my thermostat (linked below, first option) the temp sensor that is standard to the mini doesnt fit.

As a matter of fact, when I removed the air intake tube to gain access I found that I didnt even have a slot for the temp sensor at all! I looked all around the bleed screw and found nothing.

Its worth noting that mine was built on 08/10 so its one of the first N18's. I'm thinking that this thing has some older thermostat housing that has since been updated on other mini's.
