I know this has been posted before and I am pretty sure I can replace the valve cover myself, but freaking crazy prices out there for a chunk of plastic, I am wondering if I can take it apart and use JB-Weld to fix any possible issues I find?
Some people have tried to do it , but i never heard back if it was success. Its might be messy with JB weld or high temp rtv and you would have to know ifs it the valve or a hairline crack.
Just replaced my cracked valve cover. Oil residue on the top of the valve cover. I couldn't stand the smell of burned oil everytime I pulled in the garage.
I have a 2010 with 48k miles. Seems odd it would crack, oh well, all fixed now and no oil smell and no more mess. Engine bay is back to clean!
Easy job to replace. The seals come with the new valve cover. You have to apply a little RTV high temp silicone to the two right facing corners. When you remove the valve cover, you will have to scrape the old leftover remnants from the original build. Seriously, this is a 30 minute job. Tip...this is a plastic valve cover, DON'T over tighten it. Hand tight and maybe a quarter turn.
