Oil Leaking from Lower Control Arm Bushing

I have a 2012 R56 Mini S JCW. I have noticed some oil from it lately on the garage floor, about 10-12 inches inside of the back of the right front passenger wheel. So, put it up on the lift, and can't find any signs of an engine oil leak.

However this bushing in the picture was dripping oil which I think is the culprit.

Question are these indeed oil filled, or did this oil possibly come from somewhere else some sort of way? Really detailed inspection of the car on the lift and couldn't find any other source of where it would be coming from than the bushing itself.

note the picture is after we wiped the oil clean.

N18 engine? I suspect you should be looking at either the timing chain tensioner seal, the inlet vanos actuator seal (both top right of engine when sat in car) or at your auxiliary drive belt pulley. If that is oily too, then I suggest its the crankshaft seal behind it.All three are common oil leak areas.

Usually oil that starts above and leaks down onto components makes them appear to be leaking. I'd look higher up to make sure nothing else is leaking. His is still the N14 JCW as they didn't go to an N18 until 2013. That bushing doesn't have any liquid. It could be the crankshaft seal or possibly the valve cover. Also, as said above it's a good idea to check the timing chain tensioners. If you find a leak at the right rear corner of the engine, check if the engine oil is being flung from the drive belt to the backside of the engine. On early engines, some timing chain tensioners would leak, however this problem was mostly dealt with under warranty mileage periods. It is still a good idea to check the tensioner to see if oil is seeping out of the sealing washer.

This is what a crank seal or valve cover leak would look like.

If you're having a hard time finding the source I'd suggest cleaning everything up and keeping an eye on it to see where it may be originating from.

Rubber, no oil.

Most likely you have oil is from maybe the back side of the valve cover or check the leak at the tensior itself .

Check that the o ring on the tensioner is not leaking or the tensioner has not backed out. 11317631972

Thats the turbo oil lines most of the time. Leaks down.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-oil-line.html

Or the oil housing to black gaskets. Which sometimes leaks coolant into te oi, hence burning coolant.

White smoke? Do you smell coolant ?

Smoke and smell are hard to describe, being on the internet, and not there in person. Blue smoke that hangs around a while is usually oil burning. White smoke that smells "sweet" is usually coolant burning. On a cold start, on colder days especially, you may see some water vapor coming from the tailpipes. This is normal. Also, on a cold start, more fuel is injected until the engine warms up enough to go into closed loop. A rich smell (too much fuel) once in closed loop (warmed up) will burn your eyes. Your best bet is to monitor oil and coolant levels on a daily basis. This will let you know if oil or coolant are being burned.

On start up white smoke is just moisture / normal , most of the time, unless you can smell a sweet smell like coolant. And the white smoke stays there after you drive for a while and on revs.

If its not sweet and white and dissipates fast, its moisture.

For the tubro oil lines, like in our kit , they are not restricted ? 11657534454 KT

White smoke is a good indication that it could be coolant. I'd suggest cleaning off the area you saw oil and keep an eye on it. You'll want to track down where it's coming from. It may be a good idea to get under your car and see if you can see any other wet areas that may be leaking. Do you notice your oil level or coolant level being low at all?

The oil level can drop over time from the consumption of the turbocharged engine. How fast of an oil drop. What you need to determine is if you have burning coolant or mixing from a leak.

Oil can sometimes appear more towards the top and move its way down making it appear like something else is leaking. Keep an eye on your oil level and clean up the wet areas. Keep an eye on it and see if you can determine its source. The source will usually be indicated by clean light colored oil, or sometimes where the leak stops.

Fond out the oil leak from drive shaft seal located at the transmission and torque converter seal. There is white smoke coming out from exhaust, is this deal to valve seal or head gasket wear?
Isit a must to remove the cam in order to replace the valve seal.
