There is build up of oil around and on the two bolts on top of the valve cover.
Do I have a valve cover leak?
There is also a thin layer of oil residue around where the bolts are on top of the cover and around the spark plugs as well.
The fact that the leak is more prominent near the back half of the valve cover would lead me to believe that your PCV is leaking, which requires you to replace the valve cover entirely to fix the leak.
We have them here and all the sticker and emblems as the new vales covers don't include them. Unless you spilled oil there or something greasy it most lily the valve cover. 11127646555
Leaks at the top of the engine are usually from the valve cover. Constructed of plastic and sealed to the cylinder head using a rubber profile gasket, the valve cover can leak a few different ways. 11-12-7-646-555-BOE is the updated cover from MINI which includes Valve Cover Gasket, Oil Filler Cap, Spark Plug Seals and Mounting Hardware. We have a DIY as well if you decide to tackle this job yourself.
Before you replace the valve cover remove your turbo side PCV port and see if that's the source of your oil leak because that's the case with mine as of now. I pulled the turbo side PCV port and oil is seeping out of the hose which after 8 years and 65,000 miles fits loosely onto the PCV port because the rubber hose is now ballooned due to the heat over the years. Mine fits really loose allowing oil to leak past it onto the valve cover.
Thanks everyone for all the information on my problem! Last night I tried to clean most of it off to try and see where the leak is coming from. @Systemlord I'll try that tonight when I get home and let the car cool down. Thanks everyone!
+1 The turbo side port swells over time and leak a little if its not on tight. Looks like you have the hold down clip in , sometimes people break those off and never replace them.

Mine starting leaking when we had that 100 degree weather, heat always has a way of pushing materials to there limits. I'll be ordering an new part very soon for both sides as my throttle body port has a bit slower leak, hard to believe that the turbo side port has no O-ring to properly seal it at the connection and no clamp. Many poor designs in this car!

The PCV hose that connects on the passenger side is under pressure, so an o-ring seal and more positive retention on the clip is needed. The side on the left side is under a vacuum so it doesn't need such seals.

Actually I just realized something after reading your post, both PCV port didn't start leaking until after I had my intake valves walnut blasted, replacing the MAF and primary O2 sensor. I'm making much more power now because I was running super lean for over two years with gummed up valves, more power, more blow-by. This must be kind of like what a tune feels like only my engine was nowhere near optimum performance.
