Usually not, cause I don't drive them much. But if I have them for a few days, then I will usually top it off. Have never had a loaner for the MINI though always for the Ford (lots of times ) or the Honda.

My dealers delivers its Cooper CVT loaners with a full tank of gas. You are not expected to return the car full, unlike Enterprise and other car rental companies....

I try to return it with the same amount of gas that it had when I picked it up. I'd be buying gas for my MINI anyway, so what's the difference?

The dealer is loaning you a car, not giving you free transportation. If you travel, you are theoretically using the amount of gas you would use in your car, and would have to pay for it. A good rule of thumb - if it comes topped off, return it that way. Otherwise, judge by how many miles you put on it.

My Infiniti dealer asks that I fill up as much as I use, so I usually put about
2-3gallons in there since its a free loaner. Haven't needed to get a loaner
at mini yet.

The last time I had the dealer loaner, fully loaded BMW 330Ci, I only used about a 1/4 of a tank so I didn't add any. BUT my MINI was topped off when I got it back.

Hrm.. You are loaned the car to limit your inconvience. If your car wasn't broke then you wouldn't have driven to the dealer (there and back) nor wasted your time. I say gas is just part of the price they pay for your car having issues.

Now, IF your taking your car in for anything routine then quit your bi!chin.

I've only been asked to fill it back up when I had a loaner for non-warranty work that was not necessary - like when the dealer retrofitted fog lights for me.

Of course, the two times I had a loaner for warranty work (new gearbox and some leaks) I ended up having to put gas in it because I had the car for multiple days and it was running low.

When I have used the loaner I did ask if I should fill gas and was told there was no need.
I guess it may depend on the dealership's policy but it is always safe to ask.

Loaner

I think it's just common courtesy to return your loaner MINI with the same amount of gas that was in it when they loaned it to you.

My MINI Dealer has done such a great, thorough job on all my scheduled (and unscheduled) services. I inadvertantly left my cell phone in the loaner MINI, and just as I was pulling out of the dealer with my MINI, the service advisor runs out with my cell phone "stop, you left your phone!" I thought that was a nice thing for him to do...

Once I forgot to fill the loaner MINI up after I'd used about 6 gallons (half a tank)...I realized this when I got home. So I sent the dealer a note along with $10 for the gas I used. It's just good "P.R." you know? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Rock On,

-Boognish

I recently bought a used 2003 MCS, and I don't know the loaner policy for warranty work. Do I get a free loaner if they know they'll have the car for more than a day? Just curiuos because I don't want to pay for a rental.

At the time you get the loaner just ask what is the standard policy for gas and are you responsible for filling it. Otherwise don't assume one way or another.

If there is a contract sometimes it will be in the contract. Read the fine print.
