Aisin Problems....

Ok here goes folks. I have an 06 MCSa with problems. I have only had the car from the tail end of October. So far I have put on about 4 thousand miles on it. I just love this car. But now the transmission has started to flair when warm from 3rd to 4th gear esp. while in sport mode. Today the flair got bad. I could rev the engine up to 5k rpm while upshifting. It would slip for about 10 sec or so maybe a little longer.
But all is not lost. While buying it used I did opt for the extended service warranty through ASC.. Does anyone have any experience with ASC??
Now should I take it to the MINI dealer near me that has a good rep or the independent shop around the corner that also has a good rep working on MINI's??

Probably the valve body. Or you need fluid or a fluid change.

Check with you're warranty company to see where you can take it for service.

I already called the warranty company. I can take it to , "any authorized repair center." As far as the fluid change I am sure it could use it. I now have 75500 miles on it. . And I do not know all of the prior service history. I have done the thermostat, housing, and sensor. As well as the timing tensioner because it needed it.

Then take it to an authorized repair center, get an estimate and make sure that the warranty company approves in writing all repairs. That way your not holding the bag for overage charges.

I will be taking into the independent shop next week. I'm thinking about getting some maintenence items taken care of at the same time. Belt tensioner, water pump, supercharger oil, maybe a reduction pulley with plugs and wires. Anything else?

Give the front wheels a good kick. If they jiggle, you need new control arm bushings. It's several hundred dollars job for $50 parts, but not only will the car handle better but your tire wear won't be terrible.

I have an appointment set up at the dealer for Monday. The independent shop was booked up until Thursday. Wish me luck. I may need it.

Well the local independent shop fit me in. They will have to diagnose the tranny tomorrow. Then warranty company will have to inspect it. Then the old tranny comes out and the new one goes in.

Well talked to the mechanic today. Transmission needs to be replaced. Also found out my extended warranty will only cover $3000. So long story short I have to come up with the rest. If I go with a tranny from MINI I am looking at $6000 out of pocket. This is B.S. A car that I have had for a little under 5 months and only put 4200 miles on. I love this car. Just maybe not this much.

Have you done a couple three fluid changes yet? If those don't help will the warranty cover the valve body only replacement? You might as well try those first considering what they're saying

Tried and no joy. .. The warranty company will only cover the tranny if it comes with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty at a minimum. May have a line on a rebuilt tranny for around $3500. With this and the warranty I may Be out of pocket $3000 Or so

It can be rebuilt, finding someone to do it can be difficult.

Here's a link to a great writeup by Blimey:

http://www.******.com/forums/cooper-...ld-thread.html

replace the ****** with "motoring" and "alliance" all one word don't use the quotes. This forum blocks links to the other forum for childish reasons.

That seems to be the problem. It seems nobody rebuilds these things at all.

Well the transmission is on order. Gonna cost me a pretty penny. A hard learned lesson. So far after warranty it is $6200 out of my pocket. .. This is of course without any of the extras I want to get done while everything is torn apart. This just sucks. ........

So basically the warranty didn't pay for anything. That really sucks!

Not sure if it will be cheaper, or if your warranty will help or if you can cancel your order.

I wish I could send out my tranny to them. But this is just not an option. The down time would be to long. . This car is my daily driver. ..

Finally have an update to post. Finally got my car out of the shop. All in it was just shy of $9500. My out of pocket was just under $7000. I did take care of lots of extras while he was torn down. Oil pan gasket. Crank position sensor and seal. Water pump and supercharger oil and gaskets. Front end bushings ect... Tranny is working great. Now I hope it will last.

Glad to hear you are back up running again. Just drain/fill the fluid every 10k and you should be good.

Every 10k. Better safe than sorry. A little added insurance never hurts. At least this way I know the history of this transmission..
