Why does my steering wheel sticky sometimes?

 

Why don't you tell us what it is that you drive?

It could be a Ford Fiesta or a Lamborghini Gallardo for all we know.

But to answer your question, it could be you're eating too much cotton candy while driving or it could be power steering fluid level.

 

If the steering wheel does not return to center ( after you turn it ) it could be the steering spindle, the U joints are know to seize up. If its the powers steering the wheel will be hard to turn all the time. ( You will not hear the whine of the PS pump also ) You need to determine if its the pump on its way out or the steering spindle U joints down by the PS rack.

Try licking the sticky stuff off your fingers!! Don't eat glazed doughnuts in the car!!
Some wetwipes then will help clean off the residual gunk on the actual wheel...
OK..just kidding...
If it is a 2002-2006, or 2005-2008 cabrio...bet ecs has it nailed...
