Swing during shifting

I have an '04 MCS with 11133 miles on it and just recently has started to swing side to side when I press the clutch to shift. Does it in all gears. Almost feels as though the steering wheel disconnects from the tires. Its certainly not good and I cannot find any answers. Please help me out.

i am going to guess that you have some very worn bushes in the suspension.

when the drive load comes off the suspension the whole suspension moves, changing the alignment in such a way that the car becomes unstable.

BMW may be on the right track and I have a question concerning your attention to the gear box aside from your immediate situation. A ten year old MINI with only 11K miles, when was the gear box oil changed last? That should be done every couple of years.

Good, that removes it from the garage queen category and puts it right were it ought to be, out motoring.
Still, gear box fluid changing on a regular basis is important.

So... which bushings shall I order? I can't figure out which sets to get and whether I need a tool or not.

The best advice I've gotten from my MINI wrenching guru is to stick with OEM on bushings. As far as wrenching on that thing that's why I have a guru to go to.
