DSC won't turn on

This past Friday on my commute to work I ran over a block of ice. It damaged my power steering fan and the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter. Now I got a check engine light and my DSC is off. Since I have to replace my O2 sensor should I do both at the same time? The car is an 04 R53 with over 86k miles. Does anyone know if the 10yr/100k warranty on the O2 sensors be covered by MINI? Also what else could effect the DSC? The mechanic told me to get a new fan and new sensor, but I'm not sure if that would fix my DSC.

I'm not sure MINI will replace your o2 sensor. Yours was taken out by a block of ice. You may get lucky worth a try. I'd ask them to diagnose the DSC & go from their. Good luck.

So I called my dealership this morning, and they said they never heard of the o2 sensor 10yr/100k warranty. So I'm a little confused. Was that warranty only for some states?

They sent a letter out....
Goes by production date...not all cars were covered.
But the Extented warrenty was based on the sensors failing "earlier" than expected...
Not due to getting hit with ice....
Imo you have a 0% chance of ANY dealer giving you a free one....warrenty covers were due to age/miles, not physical dammage.
Order a NGK/NTK unit...others don't always work right in a mini.

Yea if they tell me they won't cover it, then I was going to order them and replace it myself. But can't hurt to try. Only the sensor in the catalytic converter was damaged. The pre cat one did throw a code in the past.

I emboldened the important part.

I had an o2 senser go dead at 105,000 miles. Had the letter from MINI, but found no love at the dealer. My MINI is an 2006.

As for the DSC not turning on, it will stop working if you get a broken wheel speed sensor which ran me $300+. Something worth checking

Thanks, I'll be sure to check that out. But my ABS and Tire lights aren't on.

I don't have DSC on my mini, but I understand there is a position sensor on the steering column. Another place to look. Maybe the ice took it out.

So I just got my O2 sensors and power steering fan installed, but now a new code popped up. It has something to do with the camshaft sensor. When my car starts it has a rough idle, and my DSC still won't turn on. Could that sensor be the cause to all that?

I don't see how the camshaft position sensor would have anything to do with your DSC.

After doing some research, all the codes can be related to a blown fuse in F3. So hopefully its all that.

Turns out it was a blown fuse in that F3 position. Changed it out today, and my DSC turns on now. But the check engine light is still on, and still has a rough start. Hope I can figure out what's wrong soon.
