P0171 lean bank 1

Ok, no codes ever till first oil change. After getting home from first oil change at MINI dealership I got a CEL light, code P0171 lean bank one. Took it back and they said maybe oil fill cover loose, well the next day it came back. Any idea what they did ? Sucks cuz's I'm leaving for a cruise tomorrow.

IF that were true, there would be oil leaking out too.

I have seen a few of the newer MINI's, low mileage with bad O2 sensors or could just be a vacuum leak upstream somewhere....

Just strange it occurred right after oil change. Now I just reset codes and removed JB+ , I wonder if this cold weather ( 25F) which is exteme for us means something in the JB+ table is off ? But it threw the code when it was 40 something at first. Now without JB+ I have drove 20 some miles and no code.

If the cap was loose, you would have some noticeable engine noise and pressure would put some oil in that area.

On the trip back, if the code was cleared and cap was tight and it still came back later on I am not inclined to think it had anything to do with the oil change. I have never seen a bad filler cap, and mine was only replaced after a guy at an inde shop broke it during an oil change.

Dealer may have reset or reflashed DME while it was in for the oil change. The jb+ works by tricking the dme into thinking less air is coming in and therefore ups the boost. It relies on the fuel trims to compensate. If the fuel trims were reset due to DME reset or reflash, you would run lean and it is a legitimate code.

If this is true then jb+ has become useless. I hope
Not.

It just means your 'adaptation period' has been reset. Go easy on it for the 100 miles or so they (BMS) recommend to reestablish your fuel trims back to the jb+ specific values.
