MINI at Dealer-any free upgrades to suggest?
Overheated, but I plan to have them re-flash the ECU witht he new software (MCS) and see if they will replace my missing (intercooler scoop) nuts. Anything else I can have them do for free while it's in on a service call?
I Figgure I'll make the most of the situation.

Wow, it's amazing how little traffic "Beneath the Bonnet" gets. Verruckt's post has sat here nearly all day and has only had 12 views.
The scoop nuts will be replaced for free. There was a technical bulletin about that. Likewise, they'll probably check the alignment of your hood and make adjustments there if needed (and maybe touch up the paint on your bumper if the hood has rubbed it at all). Ask about that if they don't mention it.
You don't say why it overheated. But while you're there, make sure that your coolant overflow tank isn't leaking...and if it is (even a little), get that replaced with the new/upgraded part.
I'm assuming your boot latch isn't rattling (you don't say anything about it)...but if it is, there's a new part for that as well.
Those are the most common, readily correctable, problems. Good luck!

PCV hose. Have them check it and replace if squishy.

Wiper refills definitely.
If you have the older MCS like 2003 then on the inside corners of the bonnet where the metal touches the rubber gaskets near the sides of the front grille there are two plastic shields that can be installed to protect wearing the bonnet metal bare.

>>Free replacement windshield wiper blades. Especially for the rear!
You know, my service dept (MINI of Peabody in Mass.) has done wonderfully by me and they've readily addressed every issue I've presented and have replaced many hundreds of dollars (retail) of parts under warranty... but the ONLY thing they've turned me down on is the "free replacement" wiper blades. I asked at the 10K visit and was told that there's no such thing (and then they offered to sell me a set...or suggested that I go to Auto Zone and buy my own). Hummmmm....

>>Have them check the rear strut bolts. There was a service bulletin on that as well for 2002 and 2003 model years.
That was a limited recall for MINIs built in Oct and Nov of 2002. I had mine replaced under that recall. I got a card in the mail.
Yes, tell them streaking wipers front and back- replace them under warranty. It is done all the time.
For the ECU software update to v.37 you have to complain of hesitation or jerkiness aka stumble and yo-yo or the dealer may choose not to cover your update under warranty.

>>Hmmm. Did you tell them they were "streaking"? That seems to be the magic word with them.

>>Mine streak if anything other than water is on the windscreen, that seems ok to me,
but they are not great wipers.I like how the wipers operate,,, respond to my touch ,but the blades, tension bars are not as good as the MINI demands,of most of it's operating systems.

That's odd, when I took my '03 MCS to MINI of Peabody (10k service), they told me the wiper blades were included and replaced them. I never even mentioned anything or requested it. All 3 blades were replaced.

you should do yourself a favor and stop by your local auto zone and pick up a set of bosch micro edge wipers. far superior to the stock ones, and will only set you back 20 bucks. pretty much the only thing auto zone is good for. i hate those places.
