Question on Stock Airbox

I was poking around my engine today and noticed the connection for my stock airbox was not really connected. I'm talking about the big opening underneath the box. I can just pull it right off.
Is there a clamp or something missing? Also, the whole box is loose. It seems to only be held by one torx screw on the left side next to the pcv hose. I'll upload some pictures.

Here are a couple of pictures.
Alternately, is there an aftermarket box that isn't crazy expensive to replace it with?

the big opening under the box is just to let air in. the hose should run to the front of the engine capartment. mine doesnt have a clamp is just kinda clips in. it doesnt really matter if its lose it doesnt effect anything. and yes the box is only held in with one screw and then the other 3 corner just have little plastic tips that puch into place.

The connection is a twist lock

ok thanks. Mine definitely isn't clip locked in place. My only concern is trashing the filter sooner from debris flying in there.

try taking your air box out and seeing if the conectors are broke. i looked at mine and 05r50 is right its a twist in. so you should be able to pust the bottome hose in and then twist it into place. the air box is really easy to take out if you want to take a look at it.

+1 That bottom elbow twists in . Sometimes the people just press it together breaking the taps on the elbow or bottom box. Lift the box up a little and tip down the elbow push together and then twist the elbow up, it should then be connected. Here is a view from the bottom of the airbox when its flush connected.

The whole airbox mounts right above the intake manifold. The little plastic mounting feat are located on the bottom of the box and side into rubber grommets mounts on intake manifold , they can sometimes be missing or pop out from removing the box , then the airbox does not have proper seating, is moves a bit even through there is an end screw.

Rubber Bushing Part number 11617593928 x 3 for the bottom feet of the airbox , then x 1 again for the corner screw mount ( the insert below goes into this).

The corner screw mount has one of those rubber bushings and also has an insert piece that the screw goes through to hold onto the manifold.

Are you aware of a similar airbox setup for the R60? Not an exposed pod filter, but something that integrates with the intake snorkel.

We have the ecstuning one that integrates into that stock hose.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-intake.html

But other then that you would have to buy the whole N14 R56-R59 intake box and then use the bottom half to convert the top, like above.

Ah, I see... so, just to clarify, this is doable for an R60 S with an N18 engine? Are you aware of a guide for this? I would highly interested in replacing my M7 Maxx-Flo setup if so.

I'm having a lot of trouble fitting the lower intake hose to your carbon fiber fitting. It's seriously tight and the hose is too sturdy to squish into shape.

Hello,
It will fit and its suppose to be tight so it will not pop out after install. Pinch both side with index finger and thumb and squeeze on the factory plastic tube. Then insert, you may need to squeeze it together more than usually needed as these are handmade carbon pieces. But it should work.
One trick is to open the hood and let the sunshine hit the factory tube or pull it out and let the factory tube get warm in the sun, some people heat it gently with a hair dry on the plastic end. Thanks and hope that helps.

Thanks

You answered two questions for me:
1.The proper intake tube fitting, and
2. I had a loose bushing that I had no idea where it came from. Now I know where it goes. Just got an excellent condition used, unbroken air box and a K & N filter. Zoom zoom! 🏁🏁
