Great idea! Just the other day I was wondering why Mini didn't close off the sides to that space. It just didn't seem to make sense to me, not taking advantage of that compartment for storage. I'm definately getting the insert once Zippy arrives.

That's like what i've been planning on making on my MINI, when I get around it it.. but that one doesn't look that deep... I want to 'fence' that area in so I can use it as a drink (bottle) holder...

Hmmmmm. Something to consider. Thanx for the post there Bmuelle. I haven't check that site out in a little while.
I find that there isn't really enough storage space in the Mini's. Not that I'm a pack rat or anything. The compartments seems small, and few.
Something else to ask from Santa.
Cheers,

I looked at the site....as they do have some pretty interesting stuff ..there.....
and ALL of it ..is ...OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!
A "Hot Pocket" for $24.95...plus shipping....!!!!!!
I went to a local .99cent store,,and purchased a few varing sized ..plastic baskets...
Wahla.....one size actually did fit ...and I spent a total of $4.30....(only because I actually bought (4) of them)
Don't get me wrong...Mini stuff is truly ...cool...
Dealers sell over MSRP and rape customers... and now these companies that come up w/ Mini accessiroies ...rape customers...IMHO
Save your money for ....important stuff...Like REAL synthetic oil... or a good wax for your car.

CDs actually fit just fine in that compartment right now, with no modification. The rear corners are open, but there's enough there to hold a stack of 6 or 7 CDs pretty easily. The only minus is that they tip to one side a bit because of the cigarette lighter being where it is. I keep meaning to take the lighter out and see if that improves the space.

I agree, $25 seems AWFULLY steep for a piece of nylon with some velcro strips on it. Maybe it's made by Teva.

Storage space is definitely not the MINI's strong suit, but there's enough to get by if you're creative. Water bottle fits nicely between passenger seat and the adjustment handle on the floor. Wallet seems happy resting in between the parking brake and the mirror adjustments. I just use the passenger seat to carry everything else.

I have velcroed my garage opener and gate opener up under this area. Keeps them out of sight, but they still work from down there. I would rather hide them up there ten hang them on the sun visor. By the way the fold down sun visor is the most useless thing on the car. It is was to small for the amount of glass on the Mini.

My filter advertised in the marketplace under Amsoil is for the S only. Filters better than K&N and twice the air flow as your paper type. The Amsoil 2-stage air filter is available for 32.00 plus just under 5.00 shipping unless you buy oil too..
