The Screamin Demon coil pack is cheaper and is the very same item Pilo is selling (look at his instructions and they meniton the Demon by name). Buy some good spec wires and your favorite plugs (I hear Denso has some nice ones) and move along.
I haven't done this mod yet but I would be interested to hear if it offered any improvement over good condition factory wires. Any new wires will make an improvement over worn out ones

>>The Screamin/Pilo coil is a 40K volt system where the MSD is a 36K volt system. The Pilo is a modified Screamin to properly fit the MINI. I ordered the Pilo.
how did they modify the Screamin?
how did they modify the Screamin?
Let's try again.....
I'm with andy@crosstech....can't beat stock, i don't care what anybody says........unless you modify the hell out of the engine..........

For a cheap and functional ignition system just buy the stock coil, wires and plugs off of some MC owner that has gone with a pilo ignition upgrade kit.
The stock ignition will work fine and you can get a bargain price for your restoration. Just buy used.
The upgraded ignition will cost more and offer limited gains- not really worth the cost in the long run.
Good luck. That was some fire.

Jonauto,
Oh yeah, I forgot that you were the guy with the extra-crispy MINI. I think you'll get the best (same) results for less money by getting someone's take-off stock ignition system. The only downside is they'll try to convince you that their replacement plug wire covers gave them 10 hp.

Take this for what you will, I have no official data to back this up, but my opinion is given the fact that the MINI ECU runs the fuel system _VERY_ rich, I can up the inginition output to help burn some of that extra fuel. Please feel free to flame me on that point.
