Check engine light - CC-ID 000
Check engine light - CC-ID 000
Alright guys, I hate to start another CEL thread, but I've read a ton, and have yet to find any clarification for the question I have.
After about a week of purchasing my used '08 MCS, the check engine light came on. Didn't notice anything in drive ability etc. but I called the seller, and had it checked. My girlfriend drove it to the shop where he said that no error code was found. The light was turned off, and it stayed off for a few days.
Started it one morning and it was back on and has been on since.
Again, haven't noticed anything significant, but haven't had a chance to take it to a shop again. Now here's my question to you all. The car tells me "Check Ok", and eventually spits out CC-ID 000 which I'm assuming is nothing. And when it was checked the first time, no error was found. So what's happening here? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Gonna ask a seemingly unlikely question which may or may not address your issue. What kind of fuel do you feed your MINI?
Using the wrong fuel gave mine CEL fits including replacing the O sensor. I discovered that the fuel I had been buying was 10% ethinol. Changed stations to 100% real 91 octane gas. It gets 93 once in a while if available, trips out and sings 'White Rabbit'. Been a couple of years and no problems.
The independent shop that does my work sent me to this web site:

I found this one too which helps with road trip planning.

This is my answer to why my light is on when people ask actually; I just blame that the gas around here isn't good enough. I always grab the 91, but it may not be the best. Once I heard about this possibly being the issue I filled up with the nice expensive Chevron hoping that it might shut the light off, but alas, no. So I've bounced around a few stations in my area with no noticeable changes at all. Kudos on the speedy reply, I really appreciate it!
i would suggest you take the car to a mini specialist or a mini dealer
they will likely have the ability to read "deeper" into your mini's computer and find the cause

Shoulda mentioned that too but got distracted by the White Rabbit. A good independent is your best bet. Check with those in the local MINI club for the most reliable shop.
Just a quick update:
Found a local shop that I've read a lot of good reviews on, so I took it there. They tell me that I have a misfire in coil 2, and they say it'll be about $300 after all tax etc. Curious why that error has never come up, and why I never noticed an issue like that (it could be that I'm just new to the car). Does $300 sound right for the part and labor to those more knowledgable about that?*
Thanks.*

You know, I've had my '08 S for about 6 months now, and including the time I mentioned above, it happened one more time, but both times it resolved itself. Like I mentioned above, I never noticed any performance issues both times it happened. Hopefully your circumstance is the same. Good luck.
