Haven't got a notice for the water pump recall...

I haven't got a notice for the water pump controller recall replacement yet. I have a '09 Clubman S and I thought this model was in the recall - am I mistaken?

Thanks

Yours is almost certainly included in the recall. I haven't gotten any notification from MINI yet either. I'd heard somewhere along the way that, due to the number of vehicles affected, MINI was planning to stagger the release of the notifications so they weren't inundated by repair requests all at the same time.

Best way for you to check would be to stop by your local MINI dealer and have them cross-check against the VIN to see if there are any open actions against your vehicle (that's their fancy way of saying whether there are any mandatory services required).

I was able to make an appointment with my dealership even though I hadn't received a notice from Mini Corp. yet. Call them up, I'm sure they're doing the repair.

Never got the notice. I called up my local dealership. They said just come by. You don't even need an appointment. Taken care of in just over an hour,

"Ask and you shall receive." Well got my letter today!

I live 300 miles from my dealer so not so easy to get it fixed. Hopefully I can arrange it to be fixed on a Saturday. Probably not though.

Got the recall notice for our 2010 Clubman S yesterday, although since the car was totaled in December, I don't think that I'll be taking it in.

Ditto. MINI/BMW must be sending these notices out all at once...

I also got the notice this week. I too live quite a drive from my nearest dealer; 1.5 hours. Called today to try and schedule an appt. and I was told they do not perform this work on Saturdays and therefore I will need to take time off work to get it repaired. Good news is; they said it would only take ~1.5 hours to repair.

Nothing yet. Hopefully soon, I've got a trip planned in two months, hoping I can get it done while there. (dealership is 5 hours away)

Just got mine yesterday. Made an appt for next week. Said they want it for 5 hours. Repair only takes 1.5 - 2 hours, but in case they are behind from the day before they want a 5 hour window. Fine by me! Get a loaner. Be cool if it was a new roadster.

I got a flyer from the Scottsdale dealer about a week ago saying schedule an appt. Then the official recall letter came 2 days ago. I think I'll let the dealers workload doing this die down, then maybe they'll do it on a Saturday, they're 100 miles away.

Had my water pump replaced today under the recall and had the rear brakes done at the same time.

Good to go. The car ran just fine afterwards.

Now my wife can Motor On and not worry.

Yea

I called about this time last month when I read on the website, they told me notices would be arriving between mid-February to early March. I barely got mine a few days ago. If it hasn't gotten to you by the end of next week, I would just call.

I went in yesterday for unrelated reason: Steering response to the sport button was lost and CEL "increase battery discharge". The service rep said, "are you here because of the recall? Your key fob confirms you need the water pump replaced." So I said, no, but go ahead and do the work. However...

After checking with Gen Manager, he decided the water pump did not need being replaced? I am going to ask why he changed his mind, but I don't have a letter yet from MINI for the recall?

2009 MCS should be covered by the recall. If you don't get your letter check the list of models and years covered as I'm pretty sure yours is one being recalled.

If your car is on the recall list the Gen Manager doesn't have a choice but to replace the recall item. It's not up to him to decide. I had mine done about a month before I got the letter in the mail. You don't need the stinking letter.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'll call the Sterling MINI tomorrow to add that to the work they are doing. I'd rather get it done sooner than later. Any issues...I'll update this thread.

Just make sure your talking about the right water pump. The recall is for the Aux Water pump that cools the turbo after engine shut down. The car has another normal water pump to circulate water and cool off the engine during normal driving. All you should have to say it do the recall. They know what you're talking about. Good luck!

Just took the MINI in for the aux H20 pump recall. They also did the timing chain tensioner seal "service action" - said ours was the first - it just popped up. I was surprised as I always read it was older models.

Very happy with NW MINI Tacoma service today - they also did the 2 year service 900 miles ahead of time, brake fluid change, air filter, micro filter, oil change etc. Replaced a non op chrome boot latch even though it was added after purchase. Had a 2011 S loaner for the day to boot...... They couldn't wait to pull the car into service at 8:15 AM..... Service advisor had the paperwork in hand as we walked in the door to pick up at 5:00 PM.... Oh and sat in a sweet Roadster while I waited for our MINI to be pulled around.

Total cost. Zero dollars. *PRICELESS*.

Timing chain tensioner recall? Interesting, did you happen to see that in writing?
