R56 2011 Oil Seal Leak

So my MINI had the yellow engine symbol on the tach Saturday. It ran a bit rough, so I drove it to the dealer. Today they called to say that it will be next week before I get it back.

Anyways, they said it was a leak around the oil seal. Also, the oil had followed a wiring harness and got into the electronics. Still sucks, as this is the first major issue with my car.

Here are my car's stats:

Everything bone stock (R56), ~18K miles. Bought new in April '11.

I'll update when I get the paperwork back to see what they did. Hopefully this isn't a new issue cropping up on the 2011's.

UPDATE: So the part won't actually come in until Feb 15th. :( So that's a 2-3 week repair. The SA stated they had another '11 in for the same problem. Uh oh....

Yeah, I've had a loaner this whole time, only problem is that it's a Countryman (R60?) S with All4. Not as many buttons as my R56, and not really my type of car.

Just noticed an oil leak today. It's coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the engine. Not a happy camper. Off to the dealer on Monday.

So where exactly is this leak at? What part of the engine?

Can't tell. Noticed oil spots on driveway and have oil in right front on the undercarriage It's 2011 s with only 10000 s. this is also. The 4th time back to the dealer. Drivers door latch two different codes, one for a thermostat and one for electronic valve issue

Ok, finally got my car back. Attached are two photos.

One is the service bill. It looks like it was the oil pan gasket that was leaking. The following text is at the bottom of the bill:

18700 leaking oil into engine harness wty - (diagnosis & repair) - performed vehicle test. dme stored faults (2c58 and 29dd: Charge air pressure and temp). performed test plan. per test plan, checked resistance of wires to charge air pressure sensor. two of the four wires were open. checked oil pump solenoid and found oil leaking through writing into the connector. wrote puma case (#50064105). per puma, replaced engine wire harness. r&r exhaust. replaced exhaust
Hope this isn't an issue for 2011s... :(

The other picture is a part I think is missing. Looks like something with the vacuum. Can someone with a 2011 take a picture of what their engine bay looks like?

Do you have a 2011? If so, could you post a pic of the engine bay?

Thanks Neill. Now I gotta hope that the fix is my last major problem.

they did not remove them, they added them on later production models, sometimes parts changes happen before production changes so they just block things like that off

Hmmmm 2011 exact same thing (wife's MINI)
was told at least a month before we get it back. The harness needs to be custom made out of Germany they told us, MINI pulled all the harness's out of stock. They said they have another one in the shop for the same problem.

oil dripped on the harness and possible fowled it, they said and would not let us take it home.

Take it in for an oil change/recall
noticed 2 small drips on the ground on the passenger side the night before...now at least a month.

Gave us an enterprise rental, we got a BMW X5 and the wife commutes 80 miles round trip at over $4 a gallon right now, she's not too happy!
Told her she can use my JCW but she said no she's not putting the miles on mine, whew

I would have loved an X5 for a loaner.

So far mine has been running OK after the repair. Haven't noticed any oil leaks or anything.
