2011 Oil Leak
It was making a squeaky noise whenever I hit a hump. Put electrical tape as a workaround but I want MINI to fix it. They'll probably replace the latch, Ill post an update once its fixed.
Interesting. Did it make this sound even with your rear seats removed? Could it be your sway bar bushings instead of the latch?
It only makes a noise when rear seat is latched. Putting electrical tape around the rod removes the noise.
Noticed oil on the garage floor so I took my '12 MCS in this morning. Oil solenoid is bad and wicking into wiring harness. They've ordered the parts and will replace everything 6/21. Looks like more than a few and numbers increasing...they expect to have it at least one day.
How long did they keep your cars?

Thanks BMX. The SA said something about they couldn't use a gasket on the oil pan when they put it back together and they would be using a caulk-type solution that needed that much time to cure...didn't give me the warm & fuzzy but oh well.
they'll be using RTV, it's just as good if not better at sealing for a long period of time.
Got my car back. Looks like mini updated some parts because the dealer had to replace the thermostat housing also to fit with the updated parts. Unfortunately SA mentioned that there is no recall yet on the oil leak as there is no permanent solution. Will have to continue monitoring the solenoid.

Thanks. I guess the TSB is not updated, my 2012 MINI (10/2011 build) isnt shown as affected.
My bad, I checked the paper work, the SIM 11 01 12 was referenced. I guess the SA was referring to a recall.

For info, my build date was 11/2011 and my 2012 N18 MCS was bought in Feb. My car qualified for the oil solenoid fix under warranty without any quibble from the dealer.
I, too, think your SA ought to re-check or you ought to ask another dealer to verify his decision (or ask to speak to his supervisor).
I had to give my VIN, not my build date, to qualify for the solenoid fix.
Persevere; it needs to be fixed!

I had a similar issue, twice. The first time it was the tensioner adjustment bolt & seal at 10500mi. Noticed a leak again at 12000mi, this time it was from an oil solenoid and a warped oil pan. All replaced courtesy of MINI USA.
Very slow leak on passenger side. Dealer repaired promptly with no hassle. Tech notes stated leak was caused by failure of solenoid/hydraulic valve for oil pump. Solenoid and injection harness replaced. Oil and filter change done too. All under warranty.
