Which radiator fan?

Ok, guys so im looking to replace my radiator fan with an aftermarket fan. I have an 03 and all this this 2 pin ps plug stuff is confusing me so i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. All i know is the relays are on are on the fan. I'd look on the car but i guess the failure of the fan and the constant use of the a/c caused cylinder 4 to crack somewhere releasing coolant in to it (its at a garage) Yeah haha lucky me

We get them by VIN number to make sure we get the right one.

Also I don't advise aftermarket fans. We've had several problems with aftermarket fans. I've gotten several that wouldn't even plug in without modifying the connector, then I've also had them fail about 2 months after install. Not worth the savings over the OEM to have to replace it again.

The two different fans are:

up to and from 03/03. But over the years I have seen different variation depending on where your MINI was on the assembly line during production. And even sometimes the VIN can send you astray, but 90% more accurate.

While I prefer OEM. Paying some 360 dollars for a plastic fan and shroud seemed bit over the top. So I replaced mine with a TYC brand for 80 dollars from these guys: VP Parts Warehouse It arrived with free shipping and a life time warranty.

I even called them once when "I thought" the fan was not working. They were awesome folks to talk to on the phone and said if mine wasn't working it would have been the first in the 100's of those sold. Turned out I was wrong and it was working just fine.

So I referred this company to a friend of mine with a MINI repair shop, some two-three years ago. He services some 250 MINI's in the New England area. Since then I bet he has sold and installed this same TYC brand fan to about 100 Mini owners....and with great success.

Was it a plug and go or did you have to mod it a little?

Well, i did a little research, and its production date was 2002 / 10, So this is kind of a stupid question, but does that mean im looking for a 03 fan assembly or a 02 assembly?

If it has two plugs with the relay on the fan assembly, then you have the older one. If you have one plug then you have the later one.
